Ruth and Marvin Powers Fund

International students studying in computer lab

AHLI was founded by Ruth and Marvin Powers, who both had a heart for hospitality and a love for international students. What started as a personal mission to share their faith and family grew into a non-profit organization that has expanded across 29 states and placed more than 15,000 students from 22 countries in caring, Christian homes for educational and cultural experiences.

The Powers have left a legacy of friendship and generosity that impacted thousands of students. AHLI is now serving second-generation students whose parents came through the program decades ago. Friendships formed during homestays have blossomed into wedding invitations, and visits to students’ home countries. These relationships across cultures and nationalities are reflective of God’s heavenly design for our world. Please consider supporting AHLI through donating to the Ruth and Marvin Powers fund to support an international student in coming to the U.S. to not only have an educational opportunity but a changing life experience.

Your donation today will enable us to continue to offer quality Christ-centered host families, education, and care for our international students. Your generous gift will assist our students with the following items:

  • Room and board
  • Student extracurricular activity fees
  • Transportation fees
  • School tuition support
  • Student support
